On a visit to my mother's house in Salem, Oregon I found this thick blanket of rain soaked leaves in her back yard. It's a simple composition, but the sheer number of leaves, and their varied colors, can keep your eye occupied indefinitely. A recent rain has intensified the colors, making them appear to shine like gold. The tree trunk and green hedge provide context and a sense of balance to the frame.
