I made this photograph on December 21st, 1999 during the last full moon of the year, which was also the year's brightest. It was a cold and somewhat windy night, but that did not stop me from setting up my tripod at several spots along the shores of Carmel. Here, at Carmel River Beach I spotted this man standing alone on the beach watching the waves in the moonlight. A long exposure, in the range of 30-60 seconds if memory serves, blurred the waves into a foggy mist. Fortunately the man stayed fairly still, moving just enough to make himself look a bit misty too.
