Detail shot of propellers on a US Navy P3 Orion aircraft. In October of 1980 the airplane was parked in Salem for a few days. For what purpose I do not know, but the day I happened to take my camera to photograph it a man from the local Navy recruiting office called out to me and said "Would you like to get some good angles?" I said yes, and he let me in the gate to the tarmac. He proceeded to give me a tour of the aircraft exterior, pointing out it's various features and explaining its function as a submarine hunter. I learned a lot. I met him at his office a couple of weeks later to show him the slides and I had some printed up for him. He in turn gave me a large Navy wall calendar with some cool photographs. Interestingly he never tried to recruit me, even though I was just the right age.
