In my younger days I used to love photographing airliners. Unfortunately, my then-hometown of Salem, Oregon only saw two flights each day, one northbound to Portland and one southbound to Medford and San Francisco.
It was sometime in August of 1978 that I bought my first zoom lens with my own hard-earned money. I went straight from the camera shop to Salem's McNary Field to try it out. I captured this United Airlines 737 as it was taxiing to the terminal gate. I shot a series of images that day, and this is one of the best.
